Set Friday 10 Dec due Friday 17 Dec

Carry out some research about an organisation. What departments or sections does it have? Is there an organisational chart that summarises its structure? If there is not a chart, construct one to show the organisation and hierarchy. The taller the structure the longer the chain of command will be. Discuss the span of control. Are decisions centralised or decentralised? Has there been any delayering recently? What sort of corporate culture exists in this organisation? Try and use the following key terms in your report - Delegation, Consultation and empowerment.

In your lessons your teachers will highlight an offer to purchase the Business Review magazine. The magazine includes articles written by examiners and useful information to help you pass the exams.

The subscription is £11.50 for one year or £19 for 2 years.

If you want to subscribe, make cheques payable to Beaumont School and place it in the box outside the finance office by Friday 17 September 2010. Please ensure that you write your name and 'Business Review' on the reverse of the cheque.
